Congradulations to some new officials:
NRTA Vice President – Lou Blanco

For Our Fellow Rat Breeder

Sherri Chatterton has been with the NRTA since its birth. She has contributed endless amounts of information to our newsletters and has a deep loyalty to the Rat and the NRTA. Her condition is critical so please help if you can.
See below.
Thank you,
Margaret Burz   Editor

"I was recently diagnosed with a critical health problem.  Although I have come through some of it, I have more to look forward to, surgery to go through, and a long, rocky haul to get back to health.  I love my rat-kids more than I ever thought possible, and that's why I've made the hard decision to let most of them go.  I cannot give them the time and attention I've always been able to give them and I can see in their eyes they don't understand why mom can't play ball with them or dance in the wading pools with them anymore.  The confusion in their innocent eyes brings sorrow to my heart and tears to my own eyes.  Because of this, I am letting the majority of my rat terriers go.  Some are spayed or neutered, some are intact; some are rescues that still need patience and reassurance; some are shy, some are out-going and boisterous; some are young, some are older.  The main thread that has kept us all together is that every one of them has been treated with kindness, love, and appreciation from the moment their little feet hit this property.  Most of them will go for the cost of shipping to get to their new homes; some will be charged a small fee to help continue feeding and caring for the ratties that won't be placed.  Know that every one of these furchildren are in my heart, a piece of me, and no matter what happens, they will always be loved by me. Please contact me at terrier@conninc.com so we can "chat" about the precious souls I need to find homes for."
Thank you ... Sherri Chatterton, Tiny Dancer Kennel

Wisconsin is having it's annual Dog Fair.

Pecatonica Rat Terriers

RatTerriers@mhtc.net

When: Sunday November 6, 2005 from 10 AM to 5 PM
Where: Marriott West Convention Center; Hwy 12 West & Greenway Blvd in Middleton (next to Madison)
I will be attending the fair featuring the Decker.  If any of you are interested in attending and can, please by all means do so-you will be so very welcomed. I am doing this to represent all of us who are so very fond of the Decker.  Of course all Rat Terriers are also welcome. Please contact me by phone or email if you have any questions.  Thanks you!

Like last year, several area radio stations will be promoting this event which will encourage a larger attendance (and rumor is there is no Packer game
that day either).  We are adding some new
educational workshops as well. This is a great opportunity, at a low cost, for public education as
well as to showcase any dog-related merchandise
that you have for sale.  We plan to divide up the
breed reps, vendors and other booths between the
two rooms with one activity/demo ring in each room which should keep the traffic moving to all area
again this year.

Champion Of Merit

We are once again looking for more candidates for Champions of Merit dogs that will be featured in the newsletter and on the NRTA website.
Dogs must be at least 1 year of age for submission. They must be registered with the NRTR. Both ears should be the same; all styles of ear sets are included. We cannot accept one up and one down.
Regardless of what the dog looks like to you, we can only judge the dog by the photos sent in. We look closely at the standards for the breed in choosing our winners.

Send in at least 3 pictures showing front, side and rear views of the dog.
Print and fill out this quick forhttp://www.nrta.com/champ2002merits.html

Send all submissions to:

Decker Rat Terrier Chapter Club

The NRTA had created a chapter club for the Decker strain of Rat Terrier in 1998 because many individuals were searching for this type of Rat. Since then we have been gathering information that has taken many years. We are now at the point to revive the Decker Rat Terrier Chapter Club.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of this club may contact the NRTA or our Decker Advisory Team. They will be taking suggestions, comments, answering questions, gathering information, photos and any other pertinent information in regards to Decker line dogs  and helping to get some of the lost dogs registered with the NRTR.
