To Register With the National Rat Terrier Registry (NRTR)

The (NRTR) National Rat Terrier Registry  is the registry for the (NRTA) National Rat Terrier Association.

Online go to  here
Here you will find the appropriate forms along with explainations on how to register. When you send them back include 3 photos of each dog showing side, front and rear views of the dog. If you are trying to register a dog that has not been previously registered it is required to know the breeder and or origin of the dog.

If you do not have a computer, please call 860-563-2293 and request to be sent Dog or Litter registration forms. Or email us at nrta@cox.net

The NRTA database tracks color genetics and other tell-tail genetic indicators such as NB-tails. The Decker Rat Terrier is being registered along with the percentage of Decker blood that is actually carried. We have listings up to 9 generations tracking back the history of our Rats on many of our dogs including the decker strain that goes back as far as the original Decker's Henry.

By registering your dogs through the NRTA you help insure the protection of the breed. We maintain records that clearly define the development of our breed. We record not only your dog's ancestry, but define a clear picture of the dogs that went into the makeup of the breed and how it has changed since its introduction to America.

We felt we would better serve our rats if we had our own registry. That way we could keep track of dogs and their history in a fashion that was condusive to health, genetic tracking and purity. We also include ALL types of Rat Terriers in ALL thier sizes and two body styles unlike other registries that have become selective in what they call a Rat Terrier. We developed the breed standards according to the "History" of the Rat Terrier.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask,

Decker Rat Terrier Chapter Club

The NRTA had created a chapter club for the Decker strain of Rat Terrier in 1998 because many individuals were searching for this type of Rat. Since then we have been gathering information that has taken many years. We are now at the point to revive the Decker Rat Terrier Chapter Club.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of this club may contact the NRTA or our Decker Advisory Team. They will be taking suggestions, comments, answering questions, gathering information, photos and any other pertinent information in regards to Decker line dogs  and helping to get some of the lost dogs registered with the NRTR.
